A special note from Blake and Kathy Collingsworth:
Kathy, Jim Underwood and I just returned from a wonderful zone Rotary conference in Naples Florida. We had a booth in the Friendship House and met many wonderful Rotarians many who were very interested in the “Josh the Otter Water Safety Program.” There were Rotary members from Delaware and as far south as Brazil in attendance. We want to thank District 6930 of Brevard county Florida and it’s Governor Louis Venuti for sponsoring us at this convention. We believe this is just the start of huge things with this program and Rotarians all over the country and MAYBE the WORLD!! If you know any Rotarians please mention our program and ask them to look into this wonderful opportunity to educate children about water safety. Also, thank them for giving us the opportunity to grow as a Foundation.
Thanks,
Blake and Kathy Collingsworth
TOO BRIEF HERE ON EARTH, BUT HIS IMPACT WILL LAST FOREVER…
Joshua was taken from this earth too early in his young life. On June 4th, 2008 Joshua passed away, due to complications from a drowning accident which occurred three days earlier. His short presence here will not be forgotten and the wonderful impact he had in life will continue through his foundation. This journey is just beginning and will be never ending, through continued education, instruction and the development of new innovative water safety equipment.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention states the number one cause of accidental death for children 1 to 4 years of age is DROWNING. Please help us reduce these numbers by spreading the word and creating more awareness about water safety. Your suggestions, new ideas, support and guidance are all very much appreciated.
As you visit Joshua’s site, you will find lots of information about water safety and drowning prevention. Please take the time to learn this important information so that you can protect your children and pass this on to others. These programs were created to benefit children and parents. Our main objective is to prevent future drowning tragedies through early childhood education and the promotion of infant & toddler water safety training courses. Together we can all make a difference.
You can also learn more by visiting Josh’s Water Safety Site and Float4Life. There are numerous articles, videos and resources on infant swimming classes to help you. You can also view some instructional videos right on this site.
The Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation is honored to have the support of the Omaha Fire Department behind us in our mission to spread water safety awareness everywhere. The Omaha Fire Department knows the importance of safety education and continually strives to give each child a chance to understand how to be safe in their everyday life. By teaming up with Joshua’s Foundation, the Omaha Fire Department is further illustrating their commitment to do whatever it takes to keep the children of our community safe and healthy. Joshua’s Foundation is very thankful for the ongoing support of the Omaha Fire Department and is looking forward to visiting locals schools and educating children alongside such a distinguished and honorable force.
Due to the generous partnerships of so many organizations, we have now created a separate Water Safety Partners Page. There you can see all of the different groups we are working with to promote Water Safety Education.
If you would like more information about us, you can fill out the contact form below or the click the sign up button at the top of the page. Thanks for all of your time and generous support.

We are so terribly sorry about Josh. Thank you for sharing his story with us. It is the Josh’s of the world that drive us everyday to continue to raise water safety awareness. We stand with you in this effort.
Thanks to all of you who are coming to this site and supporting the Foundation. It is a wonderful cause and they are saving lives. We are so proud to be a part of it!
